CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Another defendant has been sentenced to prison for his role in a scam that ripped off people who had invested in timeshare properties.

A federal judge in Camden sentenced Ian Resnick to 18 years on Friday.

Resnick, of Absecon, and three others connected to Vacation Ownership Group were convicted in 2013 of defrauding customers by claiming they worked with the banks handling the customers’ loans.

They told the customers money they sent would be used to pay off loans on their timeshares.

Company president Adam Lacerda was sentenced to 27 years in prison last year. His wife, Ashley Lacerda, is scheduled for sentencing in June. Another defendant received a 42-month sentence in December.
