SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping two children who were left in a vehicle for a few moments while their mother was in a store.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1MN1rhb ) Friday that on Thursday afternoon a woman pulled into the parking lot of a business and left the vehicle running and the air conditioner on.

Her children, ages 5 and 6, remained in the vehicle while the woman went into the store. When she returned, the man was sitting in the driver’s seat. The man then drove off.

A witness followed the man and he stopped shortly after. He ran away on foot.

Police later arrested Shaun Masse and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle. It was not known Friday if he has an attorney.
