COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A police chase in Colorado Springs ended when the driver of fleeing vehicle took his own life.

The Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1NoevcN ) that El Paso County sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull the driver over on Thursday but instead the suspect took off. The suspect again stopped, but when deputies approached, he put the car in reverse and slammed into the deputy’s vehicle.

Sheriff’s officials found and chased the driver three separate times on Thursday before stopping the suspect with a tactical maneuver. As troopers approached the vehicle, the driver shot and killed himself inside the car.

Officials have not said why the man was pulled over initially. The driver has not been identified.
