TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A Talladega elementary school is expected to re-open after having been closed for the past week because of a bat infestation problem that caused a foul smell.
Talladega City Schools Superintendent Frank Costanzo tells WIAT-TV (https://bit.ly/1SxObMp ) that health officials have tested and monitored the air inside Graham Elementary School.
Bat feces are known to cause respiratory illness, but Constanzo says officials verified no employees or students were exposed to any health hazard.
The school has been closed since April 14 so contractors could remove bat feces that built up over time inside the school. Costanzo says workers did not find any live bats.
