Inmate escapes from Devils Lake jail by smashing window

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate has escaped from the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake.

Jail Director Tom Rime tells KZZY radio that 29-year-old Kenneth James Eagleman of Fargo escaped Thursday night by breaking off a window grate and using it to smash a window at the facility.

Court records show Eagleman was being held on theft and other charges, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and fleeing.
