CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Officials say an inmate serving a 150-year sentence for a 1992 home invasion, kidnapping and sexual assault in Mineral County has died at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

The Nevada Department of Corrections said 49-year-old Julian Richard Falcon died Friday at a prison medical facility.

A cause wasn’t disclosed. Officials say the Carson City coroner will conduct an autopsy.

Records show Falcon was convicted of breaking into an apartment with a large axe and holding a man, his girlfriend and their two children captive for almost six hours.

He was convicted in 1993 of threatening all four, raping the woman, forcing her and her boyfriend to ingest cocaine and marijuana, and at one point ordering her to kill her boyfriend with a knife.

Authorities say he was traced by footprints in wet sand from the apartment to his mother’s house.
