PURVIS, Miss. (AP) - Lamar County supervisors have met in executive session to explore their options for fighting annexation of parts of the county by the city of Hattiesburg.

County administrator Jody Waits said Thursday supervisors talked with an attorney about ways to possibly deter annexation.

The Hattiesburg American reports (https://hatne.ws/1SVd95u) Hattiesburg City Council voted 4-0 Tuesday to approve an ordinance that would allow annexation in Lamar County along much of the commercial corridor of U.S. 98 and the Windlass Drive area.

Waits says no action was taken in the executive session and no decisions were made. He expected the issue would come up again at the next meeting on May 2.
