SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - State gaming regulators have given final approval to Marnell Gaming LLC’s acquisition of the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.

The Las Vegas Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1TngwoR ) that the Nevada Gaming Commission has approved the company’s purchase of the Northern Nevada casino for an undisclosed price. The approval matches the Gaming Control Board’s decision two weeks ago.

The deal is expected to close next month.

Approval of the sale comes after federal officials announced a $1 million civil penalty against the Nugget’s former owners for violating anti-money laundering requirements.

Marnell Gaming CEO Anthony Marnell III says those types of problems will not happen under his company’s control.
