CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Carson City Airport Authority plans to refurbish its dilapidated airport terminal rather than demolish it, assuming a contractor agrees the building is salvageable.

The Nevada Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1U8TynN) the authority voted Wednesday to award an $89,000 contract to Professional Home Developers, Inc., to repair and replace the terminal’s roof and mitigate mold inside. First, the contractor will investigate whether the building structure can be saved.

The alternative to refurbishing the building is to demolish it and install a temporary mobile trailer office.

Chairman Karl Hutter and Vice chairman Don Peterson said they would prefer to refurbish the building to avoid using a trailer for a long period of time.
