BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Company has notified the state that it anticipates dozens of workers at a rig in the Gulf of Mexico will lose their jobs because of a canceled contract.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company told Louisiana Workforce Commission this week that between 40 and 50 employees working offshore could lose their jobs when the rig closes.

Helmerich & Payne issued a similar notice in February during the closure of another rig.
