MADISON, Wis. (AP) - University of Wisconsin-Madison Police say a woman who reported she was sexually assaulted may have been reliving an experience from years earlier.

An officer found the woman April 8 near the UW Alumni House. She said three unknown men sexually assaulted her at knifepoint between the time she left a downtown bar and when the officer found her.

UW-Madison police said Friday they traced the woman’s movements from the time she left the bar to the time the officer found her using surveillance footage and phone logs. Police said no perpetrators were seen in the footage and the evidence doesn’t support that an assault occurred during that time frame.

Police said the woman told them she had been sexually assaulted years ago. Investigators believe she was reliving that incident.
