PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency is giving the fire department in Maine’s largest city a grant of more than $31,000 through the Assistant to Firefighters Grant Program.
U.S. Sens. Angus King, an Independent, and Susan Collins, a Republican, say the money will provide training to members of the Portland Fire Department. The total amount of the grant is $31,910.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant provides money to fire departments to buy gear, protective equipment and vehicles and to pay for training.
