TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Police say a 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after a car ran over him outside an east Tulsa day care center.

Cpl. Brian Collum said the mother of the boy had parked to drop off her three children at La Petite Academy Friday morning. Collum said that as she took the children inside, one of them ran in front of another parent’s car as he was leaving.

According to Collum, the boy was not run over by the wheels of the vehicle. The boy, who police say was alert, was taken to Saint Francis Hospital.

Authorities say an investigation is ongoing, but it does not appear that the driver did anything wrong.
