TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - A Portsmouth man has been arrested in Massachusetts on charges he was in possession of a semi-automatic rifle and drugs.
The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/26lrn9V) that 35-year-old Jason Rutter is charged with possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card, possession of cocaine and possession of heroin.
Police said Friday they encountered Rutter after they noticed a disabled vehicle on Route 140 in Taunton.
Police say Rutter was in possession of an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin.
Rutter posted bail. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
A message left at a number listed for Rutter wasn’t immediately returned.
