LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities have arrested 11 people - including a former Los Angeles fire department engineer - on charges of possessing child pornography.

Tuesday’s arrests in Southern California cap a three-year state and federal investigation called Operation Wide Net that’s resulted in more than 80 people being charged.

Authorities say the men arrested Tuesday used peer-to-peer file-sharing programs to obtain, possess and in some cases distribute child porn.

They include a former LA fire engineer who was indicted by a federal jury. Prosecutors contend that in 2013, the Chino man used computers at three fire stations to download child porn.

Depending on the crime, the men could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
