CANADENSIS, Pa. (AP) - Fire crews are still battling a large brush fire in the Poconos mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania that has destroyed almost a dozen structures.

State officials say the fire in Pike County state forest land and private property has covered more than 8,000 acres as of Tuesday morning.

Jim Hoagland of the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources said about 150 firefighters have contained more than 40 percent of the blaze. Hoagland said rainfall Monday night had little effect due to the dry conditions.

Over the weekend, the fire destroyed at least 11 structures - two leased cabins in the state forest, three seasonal houses and six outbuildings. No injuries were reported.

Officials say that fire and another blaze were deliberately set; a $5,000 reward is being offered for information.
