LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan lawmakers hope to make it easier for citizens to navigate state government’s bureaucracy.

Legislation approved 107-1 by the House Tuesday requires links on the state website to phone numbers and descriptions of what executive branch departments and their major divisions do.

There also would have to be an organizational chart with names and numbers for supervisors of divisions and subunits.

The deadline to post the information would be Jan. 1, 2018.

The bill sponsor, Republican Rep. Rep. Jim Runestad of White Lake, says it should be simpler for citizens who have been aggrieved or affected by a state agency to get answers and - if needed - go to supervisors.

The legislation was sent to the Senate for its consideration.
