PHOENIX (AP) - Intel reportedly is laying off 560 employees at two Chandler facilities.

Phoenix TV station KPHO (https://bit.ly/1VB05ZE) reported Tuesday that according to a memo from the company, Intel is laying off 248 employees at its facility on Dobson Road and 312 employees at its facility on West Chandler Boulevard.

The Santa Clara, California-based computer chipmaker announced last week it was shedding 12,000 jobs worldwide, part of a restructuring caused by declining personal computer sales.

The 12,000 jobs represent about 11 percent of Intel’s total workforce.

KPHO says affected employees at the Chandler facilities are expected to receive notice of the layoffs this week.

The termination date for the affected employees is said to be May 31.
