FARMVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Highway Patrol has charged a Rocky Mount woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Greene County last weekend.

Local media outlets report 24-year-old Ashley Dawn Hardison was arrested Tuesday in Greene County and charged with felony hit-and-run.

According to the patrol, the accident occurred on U.S. 258 around 12:50 a.m. Sunday near Farmville. Investigators say 53-year-old Barbara Lindsey of Farmville was walking on the highway when she was hit by a vehicle.

Troopers said they found minor damage to Hardison’s passenger mirror and window of her pickup truck, but they didn’t say what led them to her.

Hardison is in the Pitt County jail on a $26,000 bond with a court date set for May 11. Online records don’t say if she has an attorney.
