WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A Westchester County teenager has pleaded not guilty to a murder indictment in connection with the shooting of a college student in a park.
Acting District Attorney James A. McCarty says Stivenson Desir of New Rochelle also faces weapon charges in the April 3 death of Brandon Lawrence. He appeared in court Tuesday.
The DA says the victim and the defendant - both 19 - had attended a party hours earlier at off-campus housing.
The victim, an Iona (eye-OH’-nuh) College freshman from Yonkers, was found dead on a ball field at Lincoln Park in New Rochelle (roh-SHEHL’).
The defendant did not attend the school.
His attorney, Allen Poperelli, calls the allegations “very serious” and “troubling.” He declined to comment further.
