FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating a reported sexual assault on the campus of Fairfield University.

The university said in a statement on Tuesday that a woman was lured from a path to a wooded area where she was attacked at about 11 p.m. Monday. The suspect was described as a man of about 40.

Police say they received a call from a crying woman who said she’d been attacked as she walked from the library to Bannow Hall.

The woman was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment.

Students received text alerts and other communications about the attack from the university. The school is urging students not to walk alone at night.
