LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a 52-year-old man found dead in his vehicle after a chase on Interstate 15 in Nevada was being sought at the time in the shooting death of his wife in the California desert city of Indio.

The Clark County coroner identified the dead man on Tuesday as Vincent G. Maltese.

Indio police Sgt. Daniel Marshall says Maltese is believed to have killed his wife, Donna Maltese, late Monday before driving away in a black Dodge Charger.

Marshall says Nevada Highway Patrol troopers chased the car before deploying spike strips to disable the vehicle a little before midnight near Sloan. That’s about 20 miles south of Las Vegas.

The car crashed before troopers found Maltese dead inside with a gunshot to the head.

His death was ruled a suicide.
