MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island are hoping tips from the public will help them catch an armed robbery suspect who has held up 11 stores at knifepoint since March.

Nassau County police said Tuesday a $10,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to the masked assailant’s arrest.

Police say the unidentified man waits until customers leave the stores before he walks in, brandishes a kitchen knife and orders the clerks to open the cash register.

The suspect, who police say is in his mid-20s and about 6-foot-tall, has stuck up Dunkin’ Donuts stores, Subway restaurants, a 7-Eleven and two Carvel ice cream shops.

The latest robbery happened Monday morning at a Subway restaurant in New Hyde Park.

Detective Lt. Richard Lebrun says solving the case is the department’s top priority.
