NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 14-year-old boy was struck and killed trying to cross North DuPont Highway in New Castle.

Trooper said in a news release that about 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, four teenagers were crossing the road near Basin Road. Authorities say one of the youths, Tyler Spahn, was hit by a car driven by 21-year-old Jamia Dorsey of Wilmington.

Police say Spahn was thrown onto the windshield and then the ground. He was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No one else was hurt. Police say the youths were not walking in a marked crosswalk.

Troopers say no charges have been filed.
