ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A jury has convicted a 24-year-old upstate New York man of murdering his grandmother.

Don’Kish Lesane of Rochester was charged in July 2014 with starting a fire that killed his grandmother as she babysat four of her grandchildren.

Authorities said Winnie Butler died from the combination of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation. Prosecutors said Lesane started the fire after the murder. All four children got out safely.

Sentencing is set for May 25 in Monroe County Court. Lesane faces up to 25 years to life for murder and up to 25 years for arson. The sentences could be served consecutively.
