ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Officials with Arlington National Cemetery are getting ready to talk with the public and solicit comments about the cemetery’s expansion plans on its southern border.

The military cemetery is holding an open house Wednesday evening at the Pentagon City Sheraton to talk the public about its plans. The cemetery is proposing to expand on its south side to an area around the Air Force Memorial. Part of the plan will require reconfiguring a roadway.

The cemetery, which buries approximately 7,000 people a year, says it needs additional space.
