BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Charges against a 25-year-old Boise man have been upgraded from aggravated battery to first-degree murder following the death of the man he’s accused of stabbing.
KTVB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Wqiszb) that Ada County prosecutors filed an amended complaint earlier this month against Michael Ryan Downs.
Police arrested Downs on Jan. 5 following an attack at a home in the Boise foothills.
Emergency responders rushed Daniel Ridgeway to a local hospital where he died three months later on March 26.
Court documents say Ridgeway suffered life-threatening complications after the stabbing that included a staph infection.
Downs hasn’t yet entered a plea to the new charge. He’s being held in the Ada County Jail on $500,000 bond.
