NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Historic New Orleans Collection says a book it published last year has won an award from the Victorian Society in America.
The book is “Henry Howard: Louisiana’s Architect,” co-published by the Princeton Architectural Press. It’s about one of Louisiana’s most prolific 19th-century architects. Author and photographer Robert Brantley, his late wife, Jan White Brantley, and a descendant of Howard named Victor McGee spent decades documenting Howard’s work.
A news release from the museum-based publishing house says The Victorian Society will present its Henry-Russell Hitchcock Award to Brantley at its annual meeting April 30 in Las Vegas. The award is for a book centered on Victorian architecture or decorative arts.
