AMES, Iowa (AP) - One southbound lane of Interstate 35 has reopened after officials had to close the roadway near Ames due to a dip in the pavement.

The roadbed had been undermined and washed away in a construction zone about two miles south of U.S. Highway 30. Iowa Department of Transportation officials are on the scene to check on repair options.
