POLKTON, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina prison officials say an inmate who escaped from a prison in Anson County has been captured in Rowan County.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Keith Acree said in a news release early Wednesday that 22-year-old Devin Brown escaped from the minimum security unit at Brown Creek Correctional Institution.

Acree said Brown was serving a sentence of about five years for habitual impaired driving.

Public Safety officials said Brown was found about midday Wednesday in some woods in Rowan County.

Brown had been scheduled for release in March 2019.
