GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed on busy Interstate 85 in Greenville County after the front tire of vehicle came loose, flew across a concrete median and hit the biker.

Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol tells local media outlets it happened about 8:45 on Tuesday evening.

The front wheel of a southbound vehicle came loose and hit the motorcycle which was traveling north.

Coroner Parks Evans says the cyclist was a 50-year-old man but has not yet released his name. The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
