EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A former insurance salesman has received a 15-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexually abusing an adopted daughter.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/qWSiOR ) 61-year-old Richard Jackson made a brief apology Tuesday before a packed courtroom in Eugene.

The abuse occurred during the years when the daughter was 3 to 12 years old.

The victim, now 22, told Jackson she wished they could have been the happy, loving family that everyone in the community believed them to be. The victim was among Jackson’s 12 children.

Richard Jackson ran a Farmers Insurance office and once billed himself as “the most beloved insurance agent in town.” He turned himself in to police after the victim confronted him and urged him to confess to his family.
