PISMO BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they have identified the body of a man found washed ashore on a California beach.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1rzlZ3j ) that the body found south of Pismo Beach was identified Tuesday as 28-year-old Marco Antonio Reyes Jr. of Tulare.

Pismo Beach Police Detective Sgt. Bryan Cox says Reyes had been missing since March 19, when he reportedly jumped off Pismo Beach Pier. Witnesses told Pismo Beach police that Reyes appeared to be swimming normally after his jump but then began calling for help before disappearing.

Cox says the death has been rule accidental because of Reyes’ cries for help.

No official cause of death has been established pending a Wednesday autopsy.
