MIAMI (AP) - Officials have found a stolen Miami-Dade police car submerged in a lake.

Local news outlets report that authorities found the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria in a lake near Miami on Tuesday.

The Miami-Dade police department said in a news release that the car had been stolen from the driveway of the officer to whom it was assigned on Monday. The vehicle contained a helmet and a bullet proof vest.

The car was pulled from the lake Tuesday evening. It had damage to the front bumper and its trunk had been popped open. No one was found inside.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is being asked to contact police.
