HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - An upgraded amphitheater is under construction in downtown Howell that is scheduled to open this spring.
The Livingston Daily Press & Argus of Howell (https://bit.ly/1NztQHs ) reports the old amphitheater outside the historic Livingston County Courthouse has undergone major renovation since October and is expected to be ready ahead of its planned June 1 opening.
Worn-out concrete stairs have been repaired and completed brick work makes the new amphitheater compatible with the nearby county veterans’ memorial plaza. Workers will add a new retaining wall, benches and railings compatible with those at the historic courthouse.
The project is expected to cost about $215,000. In addition to a summer concert series, the amphitheater is used for a number of other events.
