ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A 48-year-old Orangeburg woman has been charged with murder in the apparent stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Multiple media outlets reported Thursday that Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Dorene Huggins after officials found the body of 58-year-old Daniel Clay Aiken in an Orangeburg yard early Wednesday.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says Huggins called emergency officials with a report of her boyfriend suffering an asthma attack.

Ravenell says investigators arrived and found the man’s body with a wound on his chest. The sheriff said Huggins was taken into custody at that time.

Coroner Samuetta Marshall says an autopsy is scheduled.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Huggins has an attorney.
