BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan golf pro and his wife are facing embezzlement charges after authorities say they sold bogus golf course memberships.
The Bay City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1Tg5leZ ) Brent and Ashley Goik were arraigned Tuesday on charges of embezzlement by an agent or trustee between $1,000 and $20,000 and false pretenses between $1,000 and $20,000. The felony charges are punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
The District Court in Bay City says Thursday that Brent Goik didn’t have a lawyer on record. The Associated Press left a message seeking comment with a lawyer listed as representing his wife.
The charges stem from a state police investigation into sales of membership cards to the Bay County Golf Course in Hampton Township where Brent Goik worked. He was fired in February.
