SAGINAW, Texas (AP) - Authorities say an argument over an undisclosed business transaction escalated into the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old high school student in the North Texas town of Saginaw.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/1Tg7FCW ) reports an arrest warrant affidavit says witnesses told police they saw the suspect, 23-year-old Joel Connor McCommon, fighting with Jordan Miles just before the Saturday shooting.

McCommon, a University of Texas at Arlington senior, was wounded Monday in a shootout with police officers trying to arrest him. Police have said McCommon was located an Arlington apartment complex and opened fire on officers - wounding one. The injured officer returned fire, shooting McCommon.

Eddie Johnston, the injured Arlington officer, was released from a hospital Tuesday.

Police declined to comment about the nature of the business transaction.
