WESTMINSTER, Colo. (AP) - State officials are investigating after Westminster police shot and killed an armed car theft suspect.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1T71514 ) that the shooting occurred Wednesday after a man linked to a stolen vehicle fired at officers. Westminster police shot back, killing the suspect.

Investigators say the man was pronounced dead at the scene. One officer sustained minor injuries.

The shooting is being reviewed by the 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Investigations Team.

Westminster police have not released the suspect’s name and say no additional details about the incident are available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
