MILWAUKEE (AP) - Family and friends gathered to mourn the death of a Milwaukee woman accidentally shot when her 2-year-old son picked up a loaded handgun.

About 50 people got together outside a family member’s home in Milwaukee Wednesday night where they hugged, cried and shared stories about Patrice Price.

The 26-year-old mother of three died Tuesday as she drove with her two boys, ages 1 and 2 and her mother, on a Milwaukee area freeway. Milwaukee County sheriff’s officials say the older boy got his hands on a gun that had slid from under the driver’s seat to the back seat floor and fired it, striking his mother.

A bunch of brightly-colored balloons was released into the air after Price’s 7-year-old daughter arrived at the gathering.
