HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) - High Point University says it will build at least three new buildings over the next few years.

The school announced Wednesday that it will construct a building that will house a 5,000-seat basketball arena and a conference center.

The school also plans to construct a new dorm and a science building.

The projects will cost $160 million.

School President Nido Qubein said High Point University is growing rapidly. Qubein says

Qubein said since he became president in 2005, enrollment has tripled and the school’s acreage has quadrupled.

The university opens a $22 million career and student services building last fall. It expects to finish a $90 million health sciences building next spring.

Construction on the dorm should start this summer. The $23 million residence hall will house 310 students.
