FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Organizers of an annual series of summer running races in Flint say people don’t need to be in the city to be a part of this year’s event.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/26wEfKp ) the “Virtual Crim” will allow people to show their support; run or walk a mile, 5 kilometers, 8 kilometers or 10 miles; or make a donation. It’s all linked to the HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races in August.

Those who donate $50 or more get an “I Crim for Flint” T-shirt. Organizers say participants may also create virtual teams, competing for the top spot in their fundraising efforts.

The Crim Fitness Foundation has said it’s hoping to boost participation by Flint residents in the races as the city faces a crisis with lead-tainted water.
