MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say two young people are dead after their car crashed into a building as they fled a traffic stop in a nearby village.
The victims were in a Geo Prism that fled Butler police officers who were trying to make a traffic stop Saturday night.
The Butler officers stopped pursuing the car shortly after entering the City of Milwaukee. But police say the car continued speeding away before the driver lost control and crashed into the building at about 10:30 p.m.
The driver was in her late teens. Despite life-saving efforts by the Milwaukee Fire Department, police say she died at the scene. Her passenger - a man in his early 20s - died at a hospital.
Police say a loaded semi-automatic pistol and narcotics were recovered.
