WASHINGTON (AP) - The National Park Service says strong winds led two tents to collapse at the Tidal Basin welcome area for the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

The park service says the tents collapsed in the overnight hours on Sunday. Also, other tents may have been weakened by the strong winds.

As a result, the welcome area for the festival was closed. Sunday was scheduled to be the last day of operation for the welcome area.
