AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina officials say a motorcyclist is dead after a middle-of-the-night crash minutes after he was speeding through Aiken County at 100 miles an hour.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said in a statement Sunday that Reginald Walker killed after a 2:20 a.m. crash. The 35-year-old Aiken man crashed his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle after speeding into a very sharp curve.

Carlton says Walker was earlier observed by an Aiken public safety officer as speeding at about 100 miles an hour at the bottom of a hill. The wreck site was discovered several minutes later.
