TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Pierce County Ethics Commission has found that Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Lindquist did not violate local ethics rules by accepting free legal advice.
But a former deputy prosecutor, Mary Robnett, says she was present when Lindquist suggested private attorneys could receive taxpayer-funded legal work in exchange for personal favors.
According to public records obtained by The News Tribune of Tacoma (https://goo.gl/TduupI ), Robnett wrote to the commission a couple of weeks after it closed its inquiry. The commission met in March to consider a motion for reconsideration based on Robnett’s letters but ultimately rejected the motion.
Lindquist say “the suggestion of a quid pro quo with any of the attorneys is false.” The prosecutor said Friday he was pleased with the overall findings by the ethics commission and questioned Robnett’s credibility and motives.
Robnett told the newspaper she stands by her statement.
