DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire state police say a man who punched a trooper in the face when she tried to arrest him for driving while intoxicated faces multiple charges.
Authorities say Trooper Michelle Montville pulled over a vehicle that was driving erratically in Durham just before midnight on Friday. They say when she told 22-year-old Christopher St. Onge she was charging him with DWI, he punched her in the face and fled.
Police say St. Onge, of Hampstead, surrendered Saturday, after officials coordinated his arrest with his lawyer.
He is charged with felony escape, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, DWI, transporting alcoholic beverages and other motor vehicle offenses.
Montville was treated at the scene.
St. Onge’s attorney was not identified. No listing for St. Onge could be found.
