MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) - Police have identified a man who was found shot to death in woods behind a shuttered store in Middle Island.

Suffolk County authorities say a dog walker found the man’s body around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Police later identified him as 26-year-old Alexander P. Incorvia, who was a resident at the Comfort Inn in Medford. They say he was last seen leaving his residence Tuesday and was reported missing Thursday.

The body was discovered in a wooded area behind a shuttered Kmart store on Middle Country Road. The property has remained vacant since the store closed almost a decade ago.

The Suffolk County medical examiner is to perform an autopsy.
