DOVER, Del. (AP) - A man accused of attempting to rob a Dover-area hotel in January has been charged.
Delaware State police spokesman Sgt. Richard D. Bratz says in a statement that 28-year-old Shondell Johnson was arrested Friday and faces several charges including attempted robbery in the first degree.
Police say Johnson tried to rob the Microtel Hotel on Jan. 8. Bratz says Johnson entered the hotel that evening and began a conversation with the hotel desk clerk.
Police say Johnson then displayed a handgun while demanding cash. Bratz says when the clerk didn’t comply with Johnson’s demands, he fled the scene.
After an investigation, Bratz says police contacted Johnson and he turned himself in to authorities.
Johnson has posted bail. It isn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
