ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - State Highway Patrol officials say two men killed in a one-vehicle crash over the weekend have been identified.

A release from the patrol’s Elyria post says 25-year-old Benjamin Metzger and 24-year-old Jeremy Leiter were killed Sunday when a pickup truck driven by Metzger ran off the side of Ohio 18 in Penfield Township in Lorain County. Authorities say the truck struck an embankment, began to overturn and struck a tree around 12:30 a.m.

The two Litchfield men were found dead at the scene when emergency crews arrived.

The patrol says speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash. But the crash remains under investigation.
